Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, thousands of events have had to be suspended in every country in the world. This negative health impact also affects the fashion sector and industry.
The uncertainty is still present. We still don’t know for sure what fairs and fashion events can be held in 2021 within the new normality. A new era where is mandatory to wear a mask, wash hands with soap or water or alcohol gel or maintain social distance.
During these last months there have been quite a few brands and companies that have taken the presentation of their collections of the virtual scene. That is why they have held fashion shows on the Internet and many employees in the sector have started teleworking to prevent contagion and the spread of the virus.
When will the big fashion shows be held in 2021?
Those responsible for some major fashion events have already confirmed that they will carry out their most important appointments. This is for example the case of the London Fashion Week, whose next edition will be held from 19 to 23 February 2021 in a digital form and with few face-to-face events.
Other big fashion weeks such as Paris, New York, Milan, Barcelona or Madrid, have not yet indicated how they will celebrate their events next year, as it was in September 2020 when they held their most media runways. Everything seems to be also virtual as the COVID-19 has changed the fashion events.
Thanks to the internet, brands and designers can showcase the day-to-day of their work and new clothing collections on their official website and on social networks and more audiovisual platforms such as Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. E-commerce sales have also increased in recent months and this has helped many to save the season. In the coming months we will know what direction the textile industry is taking.
